Chapter 9
“Now? But Sadie, it’s night. Can’t we wait till morning?” He asked through the phone. Sadie sighed.
“I guess, but only if you’re sure.” she laid down in her bed, hugging herself tightly. There was a pause.
“Sadie, are you good? You sound upset.” he said. She thought about telling him for a minute, then decided against it. It’ll only make him worried about me. One of us has to stay sane in this.
“I’m alright. I just want this guy to get to jail as soon as possible, and I think we already have all the evidence we need.” she said, hugging herself tighter. There was another pause. She hated those pauses. They only meant he was thinking. She could already tell he knew she was lying.
“Ok. Sleep well, then. I’ll be at your apartment by 10 am tomorrow, and we can go to the police together.” she was shocked. He believed me.

When the next day came, the two marched to the police station and reported to them the name Mason Grey. The police said they would look into it, and warned them to be careful on the roads when it was icy. Afterwards, Sadie and Samuel sat on a bench, freezing, but relieved.
“What if it wasn’t him?” she murmured, just barely loud enough for Samuel to hear above the loud noises of New York City. He squeezed her hand.
“It was. Don’t worry about it.”
--
One long month later, the news was out. Sadie was free from worry, for the time being, and was only full of joy. Her and Alex were okay now, and Samuel revealed that he was moving to LA to pursue his acting career. It would be a tearful goodbye, and after that life would go back to normal.
Sadie and Alex alone once again, stealing each other's clothes, complaining about work, and watching terrible movies. After Mason Grey was proven guilty of 5 murders, he was put in jail for a life sentence. But he would not stay there long.
--
On a cool October night, nearly a year after the flashbacks started, a 40 year old man would escape from jail. He would find his way to a tall, dull apartment building and sneak in through a back door. He would walk on up to the third or fourth floor, and the next morning a 25 year old woman with curly red hair and pale green eyes would be found dead in her small bedroom. Mason Grey nowhere to be found.
Chapter 10
The Story of Mason Grey
--
Mason Grey was a happy man, a business owner, a husband, almost a father. Then James Wilson entered his life. An opposing business owner, working with the FDM. When the FDM offered James money if he could provide them some computer technology, he accepted. And with that money he poached all of Mason’s employees, one by one, ruining Mason’s company just so he could branch out his own. He couldn’t handle it anymore. He went to his office late one night, with thick gloves and no intention of killing a man. Just scare him. Threaten him. But shoot him he did, right in the head. He placed the gun in James hand, removed the tapes, and ran off into the night.
But it didn’t matter. The police decided it was a suicide, and Mason’s company still crumbled to the ground. He was forced to sell it, and started working wherever he could, just to support his wife and unborn child.
All of his plan fell apart though, when his wife, Sharon, discovered a gun in Mason’s drawer. Eventually she pieced together what her husband had done, and threatened to turn him in. Let’s just say, she never got the chance.
After his wife was dead, and his hopes of starting a family slowly drained, he discovered the FDM was hiring. Miraculously, he ended up with a job as an assistant to a 40 year old woman named Mary Sommes. When he found out he’d be helping with a memory transplant from a seven year old girl, he took the chance, and tried deleting his memory of murdering James Wilson. Unfortunately a bit remained, because let’s keep in mind, he wasn’t a real doctor.
Once he deleted his memory he began craving murder. The feeling of cold metal he could wrap his hand around. Pulling those triggers. He was hired as an assassin and murdered two men on the same night. Very bad men, but still men.
His last murder before going into hiding occurred the next week, when he found himself being robbed at night, and shot the person who did it without even seeing their face. It was a close call, and Mason was nearly caught, but he wasn’t. After that he kept it low key, grateful for his freedom. Of course, this would all end when Sadie Miller came into the picture. But you already know that.
